Gallup, the worldwide leader in data analytics for tracking employee attitudes and behaviors, recently released their most recent “State of the Global Workplace” report. Gallup defines engaged employees as those who are involved in, enthusiastic about, and committed to their work and the workplace.

In 2017, Gallup reported that 31% of US employees felt engaged in their jobs. Worldwide, only 15% of employees felt engaged. In the past 15 years of tracking engagement, Gallup reports there has been little to no change in US engagement numbers, which could lead one to wonder – why aren’t employees becoming more engaged in what they do and where they do it? Based on these statistics, Gallup reports that the 85% of disengaged employees worldwide cost organizations between $450 and $550 billion annually.  Just think how much more profitable a company could be if one could just move the needle on engagement and retain, rather than lose, its best employees.
